2011-09-28T16:59: Cursed?

In 1999 I finally found a doctor that I got along with. I saw him when I was sick once, then followed up with a physical after I recovered, and knew who to call after that. In 2001 I always seemed to get my appointments with his office partner, and then I learned he was no longer with the practice. I later learned he lost his license in 2002.

Earlier this year I went looking for a doctor and narrowed down my choices online as best I could. I got an appointment with an office that looked good and ended up getting along with the doctor well. We agreed on some points of treatment philosophy that are, or at least were, slightly against the mainstream and she liked frequent contact. I was looking forward to seeing her in three weeks. I just got a call to reschedule with someone else because my doctor has decided to change careers prior to my scheduled appointment.

Luckily this was just a pretty general followup and I have no major issues that we were working on, but I'll have to see if I get along with the CNP/APN they booked me with. Guess I'll plan on asking for the followup blood work the doctor and I were planning on, and more refills for my testing supplies, so I'll have some time to find another doctor if it doesn't work out.

Does the thought of examining me drive them all out of the career entirely? If it happens again I'll need a psychiatrist — and no one will be surprised when he quits after talking to me.

2011-09-28T10:11: Slope decreasing

213.8 ... the trend line that Libra is tracking for me is flattening out, but at least there's been more than last week's 0.2# movement.

2011-09-25T06:52: Ethereal

I got up at 3:30 AM to work, not specifically to be able to listen to all of Sounds Ethereal and Hearts of Space on WDCB, but it's a nice bonus.

Will want a nap, though, which doesn't fit well into the day with the Bears playing at 3:15. Such is livin' la vida on-call.

Even before changing diets, I hadn't been eating at Burger King all that much. Used to be I was there all the time. Then I backed off. Eventually I noticed feeling a lot better outside of the 12 hours following a Whopper.

I was on the phone until 7:00, and then @dragonjaze worked on getting our new freezer into the basemest past 8:00, so dinner had to be takeout. I chose to get a couple Whoppers. I was bad: I forgot that they'd come with catsup, and I ate it all anyway, including the tomatoes. I wonder what effect that will have. My sugar before breakfast this morning was up at 97, although it's been on a rising trend recently anyway after a falling trend a couple weeks ago.

Sorry, King, I won't be going back that often. Where are you getting your beef? Do you have E. Coli specially added? All things considered broiling should be better than frying, but McDonald's doesn't do the things you do to my body.

215.4 Wednesday morning. I'm too lazy to check whether that's even up or down from last week, but I know it's not much. Should have done measurements Wednesday too, but too busy with work. I'll get them in four weeks, just because it's right before I head back for my next checkup.

2011-09-17T16:10: 2010 Begins

WTTW begins airing the 2010 season of Doctor Who tomorrow night. They've been staying pretty close behind the first runs this century. I still dream of them adding some of the 20th century episodes to the schedule, but the way my local library is keeping up with purchasing the DVD releases, I'm fairly satisfied.

On the dark side of fall TV anticipation, I'm getting annoyed by being as far behind on House as I am with all the ads for it coming during Bears games on Fox. I fell behind in 2009, and while I kept up for half a season with Hulu, eventually I fell too far behind. So my knowledge is in the middle of season six while I keep getting fed teases for the premiere of season eight. I did get season seven for my birthday, so I have all the episodes, but not the time to watch them.

Getting ready to go out to dinner. @dragonjaze invited my parents and one of her aunts out for my birthday. She picked the sanest ambassador she could. This should be fun ... for her.

2011-09-14T10:21: Fuddruckers

Going there tonight to use my birthday coupon. Bringing my own utensils since I don't remember if they have them, although I think they do. Actually going pretty early, to meet @dragonjaze there on her way home from work, so that I can go to bed early and go into Chicago for a meeting tomorrow.

215.6 this morning. I bled a 115 last night, but that was because I ate my salad and only then thought to check before getting my chicken. The only other recent number over 100 came when I had the cold and we didn't have sugar-free cough drops in the house.

2011-09-07T14:01: Save, save, save

Why exactly am I still saving pizza coupons only good for the next 4-6 weeks when I go through the bulk mail?

217.2 today.  Cold is mostly gone, but I've had a week of lingering coughing and probably have another week to go.
